Welcome to Carved Wood Bowls!
Here you will find a collection of Hand Carved Bowls and Platters made from different types of woods and
finishes. Every Carved Bowl and Platter is unique, with no two bowls being alike. Each bowl is a handmade piece
of art and has its own one of a kind shape, color and wood grain.
Examples: Heart Shaped Bowls, Salad Bowl with Tongs,
Wooden Dough Bowl, Specialty bowls, Mini bowls and NEW Spoons, Ladles and Salt Cellars.
The first being a mineral oil-beeswax rub. This is a food-safe finish which allows you to use the bowl for a
variety of uses. Such as for bread, salad, fruit, nuts, and chips.
The second type of finish is a gloss finish which is not food-safe. These bowls would be used
for decoration or for wrapped candy or fruit with skin.
Most bowls and platters are used as decorative art pieces, coffee table accessories or for the center piece of

Over my 22 years of carving I have made many different bowls and platters. I'm often asked what is my favorite shaped bowl.
It would have to be the ones that I give as gifts to family and friends. These bowls are made with the same quality as the
ones that I sell, however it is the feeling that I receive from giving them that makes those bowls and platters special.
Over the years I have made Heart shaped bowls for Mom, sisters and wife. These are special reminders to them of how much
they mean to me. The men and friends of my life receive small handmade bowls for change or decorative art bowls which
they use as coffee table accessories. I wish I had taken pictures of all the decorative art bowls I have sold or given
away over time. Even though I do not have visual pictures of these bowls, I have mental images like of a leaf shaped bowl,
or a large carved platter or unique shaped fruit bowl. I enjoy carving many different things, but I always get a great
sense of joy creating just the right piece for someone. As with a good friend who requested a dough bowl.
She has put that bowl on her kitchen table and says that it reminds her of me and that it will be treasured always.

I started out working for Kai Dawley on Martha's Vineyard Island. Then taking over his business on the Island until moving to
Virginia, where I have established my own Woodcarving Business.
